The Grand Connection Railway

The Grand Connection Railway was originally to run from Gloucester west of the Severn and across the river at Worcester; then on to Kidderminster, where it was divided, going into one direction to Birmingham, and another on to Wolverhampton. The route was later amended to run from Abbots Wood to Wolverhampton, via Worcester and Kidderminster, and then to the west of the present line, with a branch to Stourbridge; However, in 1837, the Bill for the line was rejected in Parliament; and again in 1838, it was unsuccessful
