Another hospital or almshouse near the Tything were the Hebb's Charity for 'decayed members of the Council and their widows'. The houses were at the back of Albany Terrace. Dr. Christopher Hebb, an eminent physician, who took a leading part in local affairs, served as the first Mayor of Worcester after the Municipal Reform Act of 1835, which swept away the old self-perpetuating Corporation. He also founded a charity to provide for the annual commemration of the historic event by distributing tea and sugar on November 9th with a limit of 4s. per 1lb on the tea.
