A leaflet found in a chimney stack at Ombersley shows that the inn at Hadley ws used other than bowling, and that in the 18th century a 'Mop' was held there. The leaflet reads as follows:

'Notice is hereby given at Hadley Bowling Green, in the Parish of Ombersley, on Monday the 27th September, and on Monday the 4th of October, 1773, will be held a MOP for the Hiring of Servants. And the same will be continued every Year on the Monday before, and on the Monday after Michaelmas Day'.

(Michaelmas Day is the 29th September and known as the day of St Michael's and All Angels)
