Judge Berkeley and Spetchley Park

The Berkeley Mansion in the Cornmarket, now called King Charle's House, from which Charles ll escaped at the Battle of Worcester in 1651, was the home of Rowland Berkeley and his wife Catherine. They were married in Easter week in 1574, and lived there for 34 years, having seven sons and nine daughters. Rowland Berkeley was thr first master of the Worcester Clothier's company, was twice Bailiff (mayor), and three times Member of Parliament.
