At the place where the first iron bridge was built, what better memorial than to erect an iron foot bridge as a war memorial. It spans the Severn between the villagers of Jackfield and Coalport. It has an iron plate at each end reminding walkers 'This bridge is free, 0 tread it reverently. In memory of those, who died for thee'. It was erected by public subscription in 1922, and is surely one of the loveliest and most practical ways of remembering those men of this very special area who made the supreme sacrifice in the First World War
