Alderman Lewis seems to have been the only man to be three times mayor of Worcester - in 1844, 1845 and 1846. On the last occasion Edward Lloyd had been installed but died soon after his election and Lewis. then deputy mayor, undertook the office for the remainder of the term. The portrait of Lewis in the Guildhall is by Soloman Cole, of local renown.
