Every year, on the eve of Trinity Sunday, garlands were suspended from the balcony of Queen Elizabeth's House, each person in the Queen Elizabeth's Almhouse's, contributing to the coast. The Church Festival was held on the Sunday, the Wake, or secular feast, on the Monday. The wreathing of the garland on the picture of Queen Elizabeth was not removed unless it fell off itself, until the following Trinity Sunday.
