Earl Lying in State at the Crown Inn

The Worcester Herald of January 26, 1901, featuring items of news from it's archives of one hundred years before, reported the following:

'This day (1801) the remains of the Earl of Powis were brought to this City in great funeral pomp, and lay in state at the Crown Inn, Broad Street. Tomorrow morning the procession will continue on its way to the family seat in Shropshire'.
