High on the north wall in Anderson & Virgo's chemist shop, which was in the Foregate Street, over the shelves, was displayed the horns of a cow. It had this place of honour for these were the horns of the cow from which Dr. Jenner took the matter for the first vaccination. Mr. Turner, the principal of Anderson & Virgo, purchased the horns from Mr. Clarke, a furniture dealer of Barbourne, who had bought them from Stephen Jenner of Gloucester.
